Press Release and Public Relations Tips
Simply stated, public relations is an overall strategy that uses the press release as its primarily tool to present a strong public image. The major advantage over typical advertising is the added credibility that comes from the perceived impartial statements in the press release. Public relations can be conducted through the print media such as newspapers and magazines, or through television, radio, and the internet. The objective is always the same - to present what seems to be an impartial statement about your company away from the context of an advertisement, thereby strengthening the message's impact in the mind of your audience. The one drawback is that you usually have little control over the message that actually gets in the media, or when, or if it will appear at all. Reporters and writers for the publication ultimately decide what will be said. Fortunately, there is always a constant demand for written material to fill empty white space in a publication. If your piece is well written and appeals to a large audience, chances are good it will get used. The results in terms of attracting customers or building a positive reputation can be far beyond what you would get in advertisements of even greater size. So, it is imperative you learn to use the press release as a foundational cornerstone of your marketing efforts. You'll be pleased you did.
